Creative Development Programme Nepal (CDPN) launched Capacity Building for Self-Employment programme (CBSEP) in Baitadi and Dadeldhura district, which was funded by CIDA/CCO. CBSEP component under CDPN attempts to assist urban poor in creation of a micro enterprise by mobilising cheaper financial resources. Field functionaries including key officials and technical experts from CDPN and Canadian Cooperation Office have major responsibility to motivate, prepare and support urban unemployed to opt, succeed and sustain a career in self employment particularly with micro enterprises. Self employment programme has the potential to offer employment to a sizable urban population.
To capacitate the poor, the field functionaries of CBSEP need to build their own capacity to promote and support micro entrepreneurs to establish, manage and sustain their enterprises. They need to understand the processes, dynamics and scope of self-employment and entrepreneurship. They need to assess personal attributes like attitude; mindset, etc. needed for the entrepreneur and to harness their energies in the right direction. They also need to support the micro entrepreneurs by procuring and sharing information related to various governmental/ non-governmental schemes and help them in networking with various agencies useful in setting, managing enterprises and marketing products and services.
